Iraq Refineries

Why Refineries in Iraq?

  • Iraq generates most of its federal revenue through oil and gas revenues but lacks refining capacity.
  • Iraq’s 10-year strategic plan for 2008-17 has set a goal of increasing refining capacity from 600,000 b/d to 1.5 million b/d.
  • The existing refineries infrastructure is antiquated and huge incentives are being offered for investment in existing and new projects.
